Spring Home Comfort Tips

Posted on April 23rd, 2020 by Devine Bros

Keeping your home cool doesn’t require you to constantly monitor the thermostat or increase your use of the air conditioner. There are ways you can maintain a comfortable home throughout spring and also keep control of energy costs.

Here are five things you can do right now to make your home more comfortable as the temperatures rise.

1. Change Your Filter

People forget to change their air filters in the busyness of spring. Forgetting to change your filter will make your air conditioner less efficient and also raise your power bills. Doing so now will ensure your A/C will work to the best of its ability when the temperatures outside begin to rise.

2. Change Your Curtains

Curtains can prevent heat from the sun from coming into your home. Get thick, but light, curtains with a white backing for best results. Get lighter colors as well to cool down the room and add freshness to your space.

3. Open Your Windows

Windows that are positioned and opened across from each other will draw in air and keep a natural breeze going. Breezes are most active in the morning at 5 a.m. until 8 a.m. and from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at night.

4. Repaint with Cooler Colors

It’s a great time to refreshen a room with cooler hues to make it more comfortable for summer. Choose blues, lavenders and whites, and accents with pops of color. Lighter colors will reflect light and keep the temperature down.

5. Change Your Sheets

Sheets that are a polyester or silk blend are hot. Switch to cotton or linen for ventilation and help you sleep better. Fresh sheets will add visual comfort to the room too.

Spring is a great time to get a check on your heating and air systems too. A routine check ensures they are working properly and helps prevent a mid-summer breakdown. Go to Devine Bros. Inc. and to make an appointment now.
