It’s that time of the year again where you’re reaching for your thermostat to try and stay warm. With how cold the nights can get, it’s important you’re paying attention to what temperature you’re keeping rooms in your home at. However, what is the perfect temperature to maintain in your home? What should you do if you’re constantly cold or hot? We’ve got the answers for you:

Average Temperatures

Based on recommendations, a good rule of thumb is to keep your home between 68 and 73 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and 60-67 degrees Fahrenheit at night. It’s also best if bedrooms are kept warmer than other rooms in the house, as people spend most of their time there sleeping or relaxing before bedtime.

Go By Room Size

Depending on the square footage of each room in your house, each part of your home may require different temperature levels. Larger areas may require more heat to keep everyone nice and cozy this holiday season!

How To Save Energy

First off, if you decide to leave your house for an extended period (over 8 hours), then it’s recommended that you turn the heat down to 65 degrees Fahrenheit or lower before leaving.

Secondly, you must know what temperature is best for each room in your home, so you don’t spend money heating an area unnecessarily.

And lastly, be sure to utilize plenty of warm clothes and blankets at night or throughout the day if possible!
